Over the years and through its varied and timely interventions, Samvedana has nurtured a potent ecosystem that adds value to all involved - be it children/youth from extreme poverty, their families, or volunteers from privileged sections! It’s their great satisfaction to have this number constantly grow over the years from 30 children to over 2 lakh at present!

Samvedana to me isn’t a mere entity, but a soul of thousands of lives knit together with a thread of compassion. That’s why, I am fortunate to view and perceive the same things with a different eye from the rest.

We initiated Samvedana in 2003, and as the journey continued, more and more lives touched my soul. I learnt, unlearnt and came close to experiencing the meaning of words like – privileged and compassion, and unravelled the same tone of the antonyms – give and take.

Despite witnessing their unfortunate destinies and pain, I still clearly see the shine of happiness live in each one of them! Fogged, yet, a ray of sun does sparkle.

While India is undergoing radical changes, Mrs. Janki Vasant believes that the personal choices made by the citizens would lead us to either more greed, isolation, and suffering or more love, compassion, and happiness.

Life changed for her at an early age due to being one of the passenger hostages of the Panam flight hijacked in Karachi in 1986. This incident brought her close to the real values of life, taught her what really matters in life or actually things that really DON’T matter in life!

“If you have a purpose, means will follow” – with this philosophy she has dedicated her life to the under-privileged, eventually working towards modifying lives and environments.

Her compassion was first channelized back in 2001 when Gujarat was destroyed post-earthquake. Then, she volunteered in the overall coordination of an earthquake shelter, where over 20,000 earthquake victims stayed and thrived for 2 months. A passionate, deep-seeded trust that education empowers drives her to reach out to the children.

Samvedana's tagline says it all -

With a Motto - ‘Not just education, but quality education is the right of every child’, she founded Samvedana in 2003, a platform to create opportunities and interdependence through inclusive synergy. Her area of focus is strengthening the public education system, infant nourishment – early care, and skill training for the integrated development of socially and economically deprived children, youth, and women.

Being a constant learner is what constantly evolves her, last September she was at Stanford University for a non-profit management course on a full scholarship. She received the most prestigious National Honour, ‘ Nari Shakti Puraskar 2016’, by President of India at Rashtrapati Bhavan on this International women’s day.

MRS. JANKI VASANT

Janki Vasant is an eminent social activist with an experience of 25 years in the field of education. Social service has been in her family and she was born to well known social activist parents. Being the brainchild of hers, the inspiration for initiating Samvedana has been through her association with numerous social activities and organizations like Citizen’s Council, UNICEF, VISAMO Kids, Yuva Unstoppable in the past.

MR. HITEN VASANT

Hiten Vasant is a multi-faceted, self-motivated individual with diverse talents & business acumen. Under his leadership, Vasant Group is excelling in logistics solutions, data management, Vasant veggies & warehousing. With social cause at his heart, in addition to Samvedana, he is a trustee with Utthan- an NGO working with mentally challenged children & Yuva Unstoppable and he is also the Honorary Secretary for Ahmedabad Traffic Police Trust working towards the betterment of the traffic situation of Ahmedabad.

MR. B M PEERZADA

Mr. Peerzada is an eminent Economist, former Dean, Commerce Faculty, Gujarat University and President of L.J. Group of Institutes which comprises of 19 different institutes in Ahmedabad and offer courses ranging from undergraduate to postgraduate to professional courses, and has served in the Planning Commision of India. His orientation towards serving the society and grooming the youth has inspired him to be associated with Samvedana as its trustee, since its inception.
