While visiting a village, I saw a bride walk out. She looked 15 years old but they wanted her to look like she was 20. I was shocked. I had tears in my eyes.
I thought to myself that on one hand I talk about progress, change and women empowerment and here it was all crashing down. I had so many questions and no one to answer. Finally, one of my superiors took over.
They called Janki aunty and took all the necessary steps to stop the wedding. Very often even today I think, what would have happened to that girl? Would she be a doctor or a teacher or probably a housewife? What would be her fate?
